SCOM Talk Series #35: Branding Hong Kong, Bridging Youth Culture

20 February 2019

Mr Allan Zeman, Chairman of Lan Kwan Fong Group, was invited to be the honourable guest speaker of the SCOM Talk Series 35 on 20 Feb 2019. The topic of Mr Zeman’s talk was “Branding Hong Kong, Bridging Youth Culture. More than 100 staff and students were in attendance.

In his speech, Mr Zeman shared with HSUHK staff and students that he, like most of the participating audience, did not grow up in a particularly well-off household with lots of resources. He attributed his achievements to diligence, open-mindedness and positive attitude.

As people now gravitates towards the use of technology to interact with each other, media and communication technologies have become inseparable from modern life. Along with the rapid development of the Greater Bay Area, Mr Zeman suggested that the demand for media expertise and professional media practitioners was bound to be heightened. Mr Zeman believed that the School of Communication, with its quality business journalism and communication education offerings, would play a significant role in not only Hong Kong but the entire Greater Bay Area.
Mr Zeman encouraged students to embrace the ever-growing influence of Mainland China and to capitalise on the changes taking place in Hong Kong so as to better equip themselves for challenges ahead in their future careers.

Dr Chan Chi Kit, Assistant Professor of School of Communication, was the MC of the talk and the moderator of the Q&A session.
