Students of School of Communication Visited the Hong Kong News-Expo

24 October 2019

In order to enhance students’ understanding of the development of journalism in Hong Kong, Dr. Clio WU and Senior Lecturer Ms. Glacial CHENG accompanied 26 students from the School of Communication (SCOM) to visit Hong Kong News-Expo (HKNE) on 24 October.

HKNE has a permanent exhibition area, experiential studios, an interactive game area and a souvenir shop. It showcases the development of the newspaper industry, radio and television news and new media in Hong Kong. Mr Man-king Ma, a veteran journalist, served as the guide of the tour and explained in detail the historical development of Hong Kong’s news industry to teachers and students. HKNE also designated Mr Wang-wai Ma, Media Literacy Programme Executive of HKNE, to deliver a talk on “News and Media Literacy” and interact with students. Through this visit, not only did students gain a more thorough understanding of the development of the news industry in Hong Kong, but they also learned more about the challenges and opportunities the industry will face.
