Frequency of Student Suicides Prompts ‘Ben Sir’ to Volunteer for Student ‘Consultations’
in Hopes of Unlocking Emotions and Reducing Anxiety
Amid a recent surge in student suicide cases, former university lecturer Ben Au Yeung Wai-hoo, or ‘Ben Sir’ has taken it upon himself to organize multiple parental seminars aimed at guiding parents in their roles, while also offering voluntary ‘consultations’ to listen to the inner thoughts of young individuals. Ben Sir expressed that parents and their children are not enemies, but a lack of communication between them often leads to discord. He hopes to employ linguistic communication techniques to facilitate communication between generations, and to unlock the emotions of students, enabling them to confront their issues with a more relaxed mindset. He advises young people to first learn how to relax, in order to approach learning with a lighter heart.
