Francis Fong: Scams are becoming more complex and localized, citizens should beware of greed to prevent being deceived.
AI Technology Inevitably Encourages Laziness and Could Lead to Foolishness
As internet and phone scams continue to proliferate, Francis Fong, honorary chairman of the Hong Kong Information Technology Federation, has highlighted that telecommunications fraud tactics have become increasingly complex and tailored to local contexts. He emphasized that the most effective defense against scams is to avoid succumbing to greed.
In response to a spate of recent large-scale incidents involving organizations falling victim to hackers and extortion, Fong pointed out that the cybersecurity defense technology of typical institutions is simply unable to keep pace with hackers. Furthermore, he suggested that AI technology inherently fosters laziness and could potentially lead to foolishness, urging citizens to exercise caution in its usage.
