The School of Communication (SCOM) Alumni Day Trip took place on June 29, 2024. The alumni and staff members of SCOM ventured out of the campus, traveled to Yim Tin Tsai, the small island of Sai Kung, to experience the Hakka culture, nature and had a great time catching up.
On the day of the event, participants boarded a small boat together at the Sai Kung Pier. Upon arriving at the Yim Tin Tsai Pier, Dr. Connie Chan (Senior Lecturer) briefly introduced the scenic spots on the island to the group.
Afterward, they had lunch together and shared their recent updates. Professor TSO (Dean) and Professor CHIU (Associate Dean) told the alumni about the latest developments of the School. Dr. Janice Wong (Lecturer) and Mr. Rex Ma (Part-time Lecturer) also had pleasant conversations with the alumni about their current work and life.
Later, the group joined a Salt Pan workshop, where they followed the site representative to explore the rare natural salt pans and learned about the traditional salt production process.
They also visited St. Joseph’s Chapel, a Grade II historical building, to admire its Roman architectural features and experience the unique blend of Catholicism and Hakka culture on the island.
This outdoor alumni activity provided a valuable opportunity for teachers and alumni to reunite again. They created cherished memories during the trip and looked forward to the next reunion.
