On the afternoon of 10 February, a delegation from Xi’an Jiaotong University’s Suzhou Academy, led by Assistant Dean Yu Ping and three other members, visited the School of Communication. They were warmly welcomed by Dean Professor Scarlet Tso, Associate Dean (Enterprise and Business Engagement) Professor Ronald Chiu, and Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning) Dr James Chang.
Professor Tso extended a heartfelt welcome to the visiting delegation, marking their first visit to the School of Communication. She introduced the guests to the development history of both the university and the School of Communication, highlighting the distinctive features of the undergraduate and master’s programmes currently offered, as well as the school’s teaching philosophy and student learning and employment outcomes. She emphasised that this visit not only enhances mutual understanding but also establishes a platform for communication and collaboration, paving the way for the exploration of more cooperative opportunities.
Assistant Dean Yu provided an overview of the Suzhou Academy’s development. He noted that the Suzhou Academy is an independent educational and research entity that has been dedicated to Sino-foreign cooperative education, research, and training since its establishment in May 2004. He expressed hope that this visit would deepen collaborative exchanges between the two institutions, particularly in undergraduate and master’s programmes, as well as other training courses.
Following the meeting, Dr James Chang accompanied the delegation on a tour of the School of Communication’s facilities and the university campus. The guests were deeply impressed by the school’s teaching and training resources, particularly the multifunctional SCOM Cinema and TV Production Centre and the Live Streaming Laboratory.
In addition to Assistant Dean Yu, the visiting delegation included Zhang Shijun, Head of the International Youth Innovation and Development Centre at Xi’an Jiaotong University; Ye Chao, the Center’s Teaching Supervisor; and Fu Bin, Strategic Cooperation Head for the Hong Kong International Art Talents Program. Li Liping, Head of the Hong Kong Master’s Program at the Central Academy of Fine Arts International College, also accompanied the visit.
