On April 24, 2025, students from the School of Communication at Hong Kong Hang Seng University visited the Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK). This event provided the students with an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the professional production processes at RTHK and enhance their knowledge of the broadcasting and television industry.
During the tour, students first visited the recording studios and live broadcasting rooms. Ms. Hui Yee Man, Deputy Head of the Corporate Communications and Standards Unit at RTHK, introduced the history of the station, the vintage records library, traditional radio, and recording equipment. She also explained live broadcasting procedures, recording operations, basic skills for sound recordings, which were highly beneficial to the students.
After completing the radio station tour, the students also visited the Television House, where they observed the live production of the popular program RTHK Sports 123, toured the TV studios and control rooms, and even had the opportunity to engage with program hosts. Ms. Almaz Lai Man-Yi, the Executive Producer of the Education and Recreational Unit, provided a hands-on demonstration of live broadcasting, giving students a close-up experience of professional live productions while allowing them to appreciate both the excitement and challenges of the media industry.
