SCOM Awards Presentation Ceremony 2022-23

The annual SCOM Awards Presentation Ceremony (2022-23) organized by the School of Communication (SCOM) was held on 30 March 2023. Four important academic awards, namely the Dean’s List, the Honour Roll, the Best Progress awards and the Most Improved awards were awarded to over 130 students with outstanding academic performance.  In addition, the Rotary Club of Mandarin HK and the China Daily HK donated six scholarships to top students in the academic year 2021/22.

Professor Scarlet Tso, Dean of School of Communication, Ms Clara Chew, President of the Rotary Club of Mandarin HK, and other SCOM Professors presented the awards. Members of the Rotary Club, family members and friends of the awardees witnessed and shared the joyous moments in the ceremony.

Ms Lau Cheuk-yan of the Bachelor of Journalism and Communication (Honours) (BJC) programme, Mr Lee Yuen-chau and Mr Fong Ho-ting of the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Convergent Media and Communication Technology (BA-CMCT) programme were selected as the recipients of this year’s Rotary Club scholarships for their outstanding academic performance and distinguished services.  They received $10,000 each.

Ms Wong Hin-ching, Mr Leung Ka-ying and Ms Yim Tsz-yan of the BJC programme were selected as the recipients of the three newly set up China Daily scholarships for their academic performance and good writing skill. Each scholarship also worth HK$10,000.

Whilst the annual ceremony is a celebration of students’ hard work and achievements in their studies and social services, the School also took the opportunity to showcase the artistic talent of students. A BJC student and a team of BA-CMCT students charmed the audience by singing the Cantonese song “凡星”and the English song “Living in the Moment” respectively, which won them a big hand.

The SCOM Awards Presentation Ceremony celebrated the academic achievements of the students. The School congratulates all the awardees of this year and encourages them to keep up the good work in their future endeavors.
