“Students and teachers from Pope Paul VI College visited the School of Communication at the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong”

A delegation of more than 20 students and teachers from Pope Paul VI College recently visited the School of Communication (SCOM) of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong on July 4th. On behalf of all colleagues, Professor Ronald Chiu, Associate Dean of SCOM, expressed his warm welcome and introduced the uniqueness of the School of Communication. Ms.  Glacial Chang, senior lecturer at School of Communication, provided a comprehensive introduction to the development, curriculum, employment prospects, and exchange programs of the School of Communication, giving the students a preliminary understanding of the department.

Following the introduction, the delegation had the opportunity to explore various facilities at SCOM, including the Film and Television Production Centre, Radio Recording Studio, Editing Room, Multimedia Training Centre, and Broadcasting Training Centre. Dr. Keith Cheung, Senior Lecturer Doris Law, and Dr. Connie Chan imparted their knowledge on basic animation production, film and television production, and radio recording techniques. The students were not only spectators but also took part in activities such as anchoring and radio announcing, which brought them great joy.

In addition to SCOM, the students were also given the chance to visit The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong’s Virtual Reality Center. Here, they experienced the use of virtual reality technology to recreate famous cultural landmarks and artworks, including the Tiger Balm Garden and Vincent van Gogh’s iconic painting “The Starry Night”. The students were amazed by how immersive and entertaining the virtual reality experience was, resulting in laughter and an atmosphere of excitement.

In order to have a comprehensive understanding of the university, the students also visited the university’s library. Here, they learned about the collection and facilities, which served as the perfect conclusion to their visit.
