SCOM Alumni Busking Party 2023

The School of Communication (SCOM) Alumni Busking Party took place on July 22. It was a great honour to host over 80 alumni and attendees. Professor Scarlet Tso, Dean of SCOM, Professor Ronald Chiu, Associate Dean of SCOM, along with our professors and lecturers, joined us for a heartwarming gathering alongside our fellow alumni.

SCOM has always been a hub of vitality. In addition to focusing on academics, our academic staff and students also exhibit a lively and talented side. The event was highlighted by singing, dancing and sharing experiences from alumni and students. SCOM teachers’ performances also added a vibrant atmosphere to the party. For the first time in a public setting, Professor Tso sang for the alumni, accompanied by Professor Chiu playing the piano. The performance surprised the alumni and received a burst of applause from the audience.

In addition to the performance segment, during the event, local and overseas students shared how the new media skills acquired from SCOM have assisted them in developing their careers in journalism, pop culture and public relations industries.

The SCOM Alumni Busking Party concluded with melodious music, singing and laughter. After the curtain call, alumni, professors and lecturers, and students were reluctant to part ways, and were already looking forward to the next reunion.

Professor Scarlet Tso, Dean, Professor Ronald Chiu, Associate Dean, James Chang, Associate Professor and Ms. Glacial Cheng, Senior Lecturer of SCOM kicked off the party and welcomed all alumni back to their alma mater.
