On 1 November 2024, the Center for Communication Studies at the School of Communication (SCOM) of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong hosted a lecture for 80 students and teachers from the School of Communication and Media Studies at Guangzhou Huashang College. The visit offered participants a chance to explore the University campus, experience the academic environment, and tour the state-of-the-art facilities at SCOM. During the visit, the Center also organized an informative lecture on SCOM’s master’s program, followed by a Q&A session for students interested in pursuing further studies in Hong Kong.
Dr James Chang, Associate Dean of the School of Communication, warmly welcomed the guests and provided an insightful overview of the university. The visiting students, mostly third-year advertising majors, were keen to explore graduate study opportunities in Hong Kong. Dr Chang highlighted the distinctive aspects of the Master’s program in Strategic Communication, emphasizing its focus on communication strategies, data analysis, social media, crisis management, and ethical leadership. Designed to prepare students for navigating complex social and political landscapes, the program aims to develop a strategic and forward-thinking approach to communication.
After the informative lecture, the students participated in a tour of the School’s facilities, including the Film and Television Production Center and the Broadcasting Studio. This gave them insights into film and television production, broadcasting technology, and hands-on experience in anchoring and broadcast reporting.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Fred Luk, Director of the Centre for Communication Studies, encouraged the students to keep an open mind and cultivate a global perspective in their studies and their lives.
