“Flying in the Darkness” Produced by Graduates from the School of Communication Selected as the Opening Film for “Asia-Pacific Youth Micro Movie Festival 2024”

The “Asia-Pacific Youth Micro Movie Festival 2024” was grandly held on 22 November 2024 at the Ocean Theatre in Tsim Sha Tsui. “Flying in the Darkness”, directed by Lai Chun Ngai, a graduate from the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Convergent Media and Communication Technology programme offered by the School of Communication (SCOM) was selected as the opening film for the festival.

The film was produced under the supervision of Dr. Sobel Chan, Senior Lecturer of SCOM, who provided guidance and facilitated the collaboration among SCOM students.

Earlier this year, “Flying in the Darkness” was also selected for the Fight for Show-Future Micro Film Festival & Changemakers Roundtable held in March. Faculty and students from SCOM involved in the production attended the film festival on 22 March, participating in a forum session titled “Dialogue Between Young Creators and Changemakers: How Film Production Influences Life Satisfaction” where they engaged in insightful discussions with the audience.

Additionally, Dr. Sobel Chan was shortlisted for the prestigious international film award for “Best Asian Film Producer”.
