The event was attended by over sixty CEOs and industrialists from various enterprises, received a lot of positive feedback.
The keynote speaker, Professor Simon Ho, President of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), shared his insights on the topic of “Corporate ESG Strategies and Implementation.” Professor Ho emphasized that as significant public institutions, corporates should return to their original social contract, focusing on “stakeholder-centric” approaches. He highlighted that businesses are not only accountable to shareholders but also must optimize sustainable value for various stakeholders and actively participate in solving social issues while creating both economic and social value.
Following this, Professor Scarlet Tso, Dean of the School of Communication at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (SCOM), shared with the guests the close relationship SCOM has had with the business sector. She used cases to illustrate how to collaborate with the business community and support companies in fulfilling their commercial communication functions. She noted that companies require the assistance of communication professionals when promoting and developing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) concepts. Through media reporting and interactive promotions on social media, companies can enhance and strengthen their ESG image. Professor Tso pointed out that many students nurtured by SCOM joined the corporate communications industry after graduation, providing practical support in developing various marketing strategies for businesses.
The subsequent session, “In-Depth Dialogue between the President and Attendees,” was moderated by Mr. Sidney Wong, Secretary-General of the GBA CEO CLUB. Participants actively asked questions and explored various possibilities for collaboration between the industry and the University, hoping to benefit industry development and students’ practical learning through cooperative programs.
After the dialogue session, Dr. Janice Wong, Lecturer from SCOM, led the guests on a tour of the School’s teaching facilities and the University campus. Guests expressed great interest in the SCOM Cinema and TV Production Centre, eagerly trying out the role of a news anchor, and praised the well-equipped studio facilities, which provide a high-quality learning environment for students.
