Joint School Advisory Committees Meeting cum Retreat of School of Communication of AY2021/22

The Joint School Advisory Committees Meeting cum Retreat of School of Communication of the academic year 2021/22 was held on 20 August 2022 at Royal Plaza Hotel. In addition to the School’s academic staff, External Advisors, External Examiners and Part-time Lecturers were invited to join the event.  Participants reviewed the School’s developments in the past year and also explore the road ahead for the School.

Professor Scarlet Tso, Dean of School of Communication gave an overview of the School’s achievements in the past year including programme development, School events, student intake, and student awards, etc.  The distinguished guests were invited to share their views and suggestions in teaching and learning, opportunities for the School and the development plans.  Advisors provided the School with many insightful recommendations for teaching and learning enhancement and shared with the School with their experiences in the business and higher education areas.

Professor Ronald Chiu, Associate Dean of School, then led the discussion session and invited the guests to share their views on three topics, namely “Capitalising on Emerging Communication Technologies: Grooming of Communication Professions with Technology Competencies to Meet New Market Demands”, “Developments in the Greater Bay Area: Opportunities and Challenges” and “Enhancement of Exposure and External Relations”. The School was deeply inspired by the ideas put forward in the exchanges. Prof. Chiu indicated that the advice received would be discussed and considered in the relevant committees of the School for improvement in its teaching techiques, student intake and programme development.

The event was concluded by a joyful launch at the venue.
