New Student Orientation 2022/23 of School of Communication

30 August 2022

The School of Communication (SCOM) organised three New Student Orientation Sessions entitled ‘We Are Different!’ for the 2022/23 entrants at the Auditorium on 29 and 30 August 2022. The participants included Year 1 to 3 undergraduates and students of the Master’s Programme. All the teachers warmly welcomed the new students and looked forward to meeting them on campus in the new academic year.

Professor Scarlet Tso, Dean of SCOM, delivered a welcome speech to all the new entrants. She highlighted the uniqueness of SCOM’s Programmes, which, with their rich content that evolved with the times, offered students different opportunities to equip themselves for their future careers. The Programme Directors and Associate Programme Directors explained in detail important information, such as study plans of the Programmes, academic regulations and graduation requirements, to help students plan their studies early on. Other teachers also briefed the students on the Summer Internship Programme.

Some senior students were invited to share with the new students their experiences and useful tips related to their studies and campus life. The President of the Students’ Association of Journalism and Communication (SAJC) also joined the event, introducing the SAJC and appealing to the new students to actively join its upcoming activities. He also wished them a different and joyful campus life ahead.

The new entrants were then arranged to visit SCOM’s various facilities, while acquiring some basic understanding of SCOM’s practical Programmes.
