SCOM’s Research Seminar on Research Policy and Strategies at Higher Education

The School of Communication (SCOM) at the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) held a research seminar on “Research Policy and Strategies at Higher Education in Hong Kong” on 27 March 2023. The seminar featured a keynote speech by Prof. Tai Lok LUI, JP, the Chair Professor of Hong Kong Studies and Director of The Academy of Hong Kong Studies at The Education University of Hong Kong.

The seminar aimed to examine how young universities and their departments can engage with the higher educational communities and social expectations with healthy and constructive dynamics. Prof. Lui shared his insights on the challenges and opportunities for young universities in Hong Kong, especially in the context of the global ranking mechanisms and their social impact. He also discussed how young universities can pursue academic excellence and public services while maintaining their distinctive identities and missions.

Prof. Scarlet Tso, Dean of the School of Communication, welcomed Prof. Lui for his constructive dialogue with colleagues from the school and other department(s) of HSUHK. 

The seminar was part of the Research Seminar Series organized by the School of Communication, HSUHK. The series aims to promote academic exchange and collaboration among scholars, practitioners, and students in the field of communication and related disciplines.
